About Big Weekend

Big Weekend is run by Company Three, one of the UK's leading theatre companies working with young people.  We've been working in Islington for more than 9 years and our work has been produced across the UK and on the BBC.

Big Weekend is a two day workshop for Year 7 students nominated by their school and other organisations as young people particularly likely to benefit from the project.  You've been nominated because your teacher or youth worker think you might be a great performer or theatre-maker.

During the weekend you'll take part in a series of professional workshops run by leading theatre directors and actors.  You'll learn new skills and meet loads of new people.  The atmosphere at Big Weekend is incredibly friendly and safe - we guarantee you'll make new friends and have a lot of fun.

Frequently Asked Questions

What will I do at Big Weekend?
You'll take part in drama workshops with some amazing professional theatre directors and actors. You'll work in small groups and learn new skills that aren’t really covered in school drama classes. You'll explore devising, acting skills, scripts and lots more.

What if I don't know anyone?
The first thing we do at Big Weekend is help you make friends in small groups.  We don't know anyone who has ever attended Big Weekend who hasn't made a friend on the first day!

What if I can only attend for one day?
We'd love you to attend for both days, but if there's already something going on then it might be possible to attend for just one of the days.  Give us a ring to check.

What if I can't attend at all?
Contact us!  We run other events during the year and if you're keen to get involved, we can make sure we tell you when they're coming up.

Can I bring a friend?
Big Weekend is only for people who are nominated by their teachers or another adult.  If you have a friend who you think should be nominated, talk to your Head of Drama or the adult who nominated you.

"It was one of the best weekends I've ever had.  I felt really at home from the moment I arrived.  I met loads of new people and really enjoyed working with all the different directors and actors."
