“A remarkable theatrical act of optimism by a bunch of funny, fearless and utterly engaging teenagers … full of heart.”
Along with our colleagues in youth theatres across the UK, we have shut down all our in-person activity for the foreseeable future. We have cancelled all workshops and shows until at least June 2020.
We will continue to support our young people until we are able to meet with them again, through regular phone check-ins, safeguarding, signposting and online projects. Although less affected by the virus, we think teenagers, particularly those in more crowded accommodation and challenging family relationships, will be particularly hard-hit by school and societal shutdowns, so we are doing everything we can to support them.
We have committed to paying all our freelance staff.
We are working on ways to share how we are keeping young people engaged in our work with other young companies across the world. We will be sharing more information soon.
Meanwhile, we need your support more than ever:
Company Three is an award-winning company of 75 young people aged 11-19 in Islington, North London.
We make theatre for adult audiences that speaks deeply of what it means to be a teenager, through long-term collaboration between our company members and professional theatre-makers.
Our recent work includes The Act at The Yard Theatre and Royal Exchange Manchester, Boat at Battersea Arts Centre, The Future at the Yard Theatre and Brainstorm at the National Theatre/BBC iPlayer, under our old name: Islington Community Theatre.
Nominating and getting involved
Nominating and getting involved
Company Three recruit all our members through schools, local social workers and youth workers, other local organisations and through our partnership with Platform.
Nominating a young person
Young people are generally nominated at Year 7 or 8 by teachers and other professionals because they are likely to benefit from being part of our work. Our criteria for this is broad and flexible: we value the opinion of adults who have a long-standing relationship with the young person they are nominating.
If you are a teacher or other professional working with young people in Islington and would like to refer a young person to us, please fill in the form on this page.
